Girder at Ground Level
Because of the beams required to support the load being lifted, this drive girder is still about 15-feet off the ground after being lowered. The next photo will show one of the shop's remaining overhead cranes unloading the beam for transport to the lay-down area, although conventional hydraulic jacking or mobile cranes could also have been used.

The system is designed to work slowly and safely, taking approximately 60 to 90 minutes to lower a piece from the heights in this project.
